hello puseliner’s: would like to let you know on the update w/the sign problem on eastview and east mountain rd. i went through the proper channel’s to have a real estate sign removed from being a public hazard… first i put something in the pulse line, then they sent someone up to look at it, they were looking at the wrong sign at first. so they sent someone to look at the right sign. less than a week later the sign was moved back about 5 ft. hmmmmm had the mayor done that maybe he would have saved us tax payer’s a bundle of money.. ehh just saying is all.
EBT cards are used by poor and disabled people to buy food as their funds are such that they cannot afford food with their income. My wife and I are disabled and the idea that we would use, or could use, our EBT cards for something other than food is ridiculous. The EBT card does not allow you to purchase items such as liquor, cigarettes, casino chips or any other thing other than food. I cannot even purchase paper towels or toilet paper without paying cash. The notion that EBT cards are being abused by those receiving benefits is completely foreign to my family and furthermore the benefits only last one half of the month. If some junkie is selling his or her benefits and is caught, shut them off completely, and without a second chance. From where I sit, however, my EBT benefits need to be doubled to get me through the month and I urge Don Humason and the boys to see that this is done. Thank you.
For a long time now I have believed that the city is being controlled by a whole bunch of mindless, self-centered, people who are there to serve themselves but not the city. Now, unfortunately, it appears that the editor of the paper has joined this band of idiots. What’s wrong with this story about not flying the flag? It is absolutely ridiculous. Why did the contractors put up a pole if it’s not to be used? We’re sorry you feel that way and urge you to visit the Mayor’s office for more details.
My best thoughts for some of the politicians in Westfield, nationally and in Boston is why we need term limits.
I think it’s time the councilors start listening to what Mr. Flaherty keeps saying regarding spending. Just look at the cities declaring bankruptcy in California and Pennsylvania.
In Friday’s paper, I read that the clock is not working and has been repaired twice already. I’m also curious about who has to pay for the repairs on the clock. Even Wal-Mart offers an extended warranty on most items but I guess the clowns in City Hall weren’t smart enough to purchase one. Thanks. What you read was a reader’s submission to the PulseLine not a news story written by The Westfield News about the clock. We at The Westfield News are following up on that reader’s comments to see if there is any validity to the comment.
I read where two Jaycee banners were donated to the public library. Back in the day, I was an active Jaycee member and when the organization folded these banners seemed to disappear, along with a fire truck we once had. I wonder if these are available to be donated as I would consider them stolen property.
Southwick: This concerns Rails to Trails and the bicycle riders in particular. Someone needs to educate them on what the little red signs are at the intersections that read S.T.O.P. Time and time again, I’ve pulled up to the stop sign in my vehicle and they just blow right by without stopping. Someone is going to get very seriously hurt if the police department doesn’t educate these people. And I blame the town. Just to make sure we understand your point, you want to blame the town for a bike riders stupidity?
Southwick, MA: On Saturday, July 14, I was riding around your town and there were bicyclists all over place on the main and side roads, four, five, six in a row, three and four abreast, refusing to move out of the way of traffic trying to get by. You have a nice bike trail; what’s wrong with it? Why aren’t you fools using it? They are going to cause a serious accident and the ones to get hurt will probably be them. Where is your police department? Thank you.
Shop Westfield. The other day I entered Olympia Sports in the Westgate Plaza for the first time. I made a purchase, the sales person was very helpful, the store was really clean and neat, and the store had more merchandise than I thought it had. Sad to say it took me a year and a half to go in and check out this store. I was surprised to find out what they carried for merchandise and I know my grandchildren would love to receive a gift from this store. Check out what Westfield stores have to offer, you may be surprised too. Shop Westfield. Keep businesses like this in Westfield. Olympia Sports, I love your store, and I will shop Westfield as much as I can. Thank you
