There was a turquoise colored pickup truck going down Cross Street on Wednesday about noon, when the imbecile apparently decided he was going in the wrong direction. So what did he do…? He just strolled up on someone’s front lawn, drove across the neighbor’s yard, and then back onto the street. I wonder where he got his driver’s license and manners. Keep an eye out for a lunatic driving a turquoise pickup truck.

Why is this country going downhill? I have a reason and a thought. Today, when I was at the supermarket there was a person with a whole basket full of groceries. First, they pull out their WIC card; everything is free. Then, for the next load they pull out their blue welfare card; again, everything is free. This person was in no worse shape than I am physically and should have been out there working. Also I met two families from our newest immigrants. One has ten children and the other one has eight children… All on MassHealth. Remember that a person may appear to be in good health but they may not be.

Wednesday’s Police Log, first entry: Chapman Playground, ten youths playing basketball were sent on their way by a police officer. Just how much did it cost us taxpayers to put Chapman Playground back in order and now we can’t use it? If you look at the Police Log entry again, you’ll notice that the kids were playing basketball at 2:30 a.m.  The park is open to all citizens from sunrise to sunset.

Good morning, Southwick. After reading the front page article in The Westfield News yesterday, here we go again with the Whalley Park issue. Why is it that two senior selectmen keep pushing for this park to move forward and have Southwick pick up the tab for the remaining construction? We can’t afford this. Why is it that the selectmen keep pushing forward to allow Southwick Rec. Center, which is in no way connected to Southwick government, to use our property for free? These people charge over $100 for each child to play basketball, soccer, baseball and so on. I think our new selectperson needs to stand up for the people who put her in office. The park is a good idea but we can’t afford the upkeep or allow some other recreational facility to use our fields for free. Thank you.
