I, too, would like to thank the two young men who represent Westfield in Boston for spending taxpayer’s dollars with reckless abandon. Of course, they have to make themselves look good because this is now a career and they want to keep their careers flowing. This is another reason why we should have limits. Term limits. I’m sure if they look hard enough they could find another six or seven places to put up a 500,000 dollar clock. Good job, guys.

I think the idea of a 3 million dollar parking garage in downtown is absolutely ludicrous. Let’s get some businesses down there. Let’s just get some movement, some activity. We don’t need a parking garage because there’s no one going down to use it. So, let’s not put the cart before the horse. Let’s get some activity and businesses before we spend 3 million dollars of taxpayer’s money.

Southwick: With our taxes going higher and higher with all the new buildings and reconstruction of buildings and now probably the purchase of Whalley Park, we should all strive to keep them as low as possible. It doesn’t look like the selectmen are helping us. As I drive by Whalley Park, the sprinkler systems throughout the whole park area are running. Yeah, the grass is green, water bill is probably high, and you and I are going to end up paying for it. Once again I say, keep an eye on these selectmen.

I read in The Westfield News where they’re looking for funding for a parking garage downtown. You know, it seems like it’s very coincidental that the college kids are going to move in next to the police department. If they build this parking garage it will be just for the students because there’s nothing else downtown for the average person to go to. So I think Dobelle is a pretty smart man in his own right. Get the funding for the garage, have it built, all the college kids can park their cars, raise hell, and let the police baby sit them. That Dobelle is a pretty smart man. They may not want to admit to it, but its way too coincidental that they’re going to build this garage. You wait and see… the college kids are going to take over.

Hi, Westfield. Looking good all around town, not too bad. Now I’m really interested in the downtown projects and have a good idea. Why don’t we give a tax break to some of the up and coming businesses that are doing good in other areas like Trader Joe’s and the Christmas Tree Shop? Businesses that will bring families, young and old alike, back to downtown. Couldn’t we use some of those places downtown? We give tax breaks to all the other industries, why not them? Bring them downtown and people will come. Thanks a lot. Have a good day.

This is a message to the workers on Elm Street and the City of Westfield. It’s about time you have some concern for pedestrians while you dig up and put new sidewalks down. You put barrels out there but where is a place for pedestrians to walk in the middle of the road? Cars don’t slow down or move for us. Do something or face the penalties. I got hurt once. Thank you.

My heart and prayers go out to the Torres family with the loss of wonderful man, Officer Torres. He helped a lot of people in the community and will be missed.
