Hey, folks. I live on East Mountain Road and we’re having a problem with Lane Construction trucks driving throughout the entire night. It’s gotten so bad this past month that we can’t even open our own windows. The trucks go by, at least, on the hour, it’s totally destructive to our entire family and as I said we can’t even open our windows to get a decent night sleep. I have a question for Lane Trucking: Can’t you go toward Wal-Mart, down Main Street, onto Union Street, and up 10 and 202 to get to the turnpike? Why do you have to constantly follow East Mountain Road and go down Holyoke Road where there are many residents in this city and disturb our sleep? When we bought our houses, we did not sign up for this. Lane was very tricking doing this very gradually and now it’s affecting everyone. I wish I knew of a petition or if anyone has any ideas on what we can do to stop this and get Lane to cooperate with the residents of Westfield. Please call in if you do. Bye. If you haven’t done so yet, please contact the traffic enforcement division of the Westfield Police Department.

I don’t have e-mail access so I’m calling this in. I’m a Westfield resident and we are encouraged to support downtown Westfield where there’s plenty of parking. Well, today is July 2, it’s a clear day with no wind, so I parked in the Thomas Street parking lot to go have lunch in one of the downtown establishments. When I came out to get into my car, my friend noticed scratches, cracks and twigs on my hood but mostly a dent. A branch had fallen over my car and was laying in an adjacent space and there was a Department of Public Works truck coming to pick it up. Here is the point of my call… My car was damaged – not good. But what if I was walking, or anyone else was walking, beneath that same tree with damaged branches? Perhaps the city needs to go over some of these areas to prevent more serious consequences than a dented car, which by the way, I will file a claim for. Thank you.

Am I the only one that’s annoyed by the speed bumbs/crosswalks through the center of town? Come on. Over the years the center of Westfield has had drivers travel well above the speed limit. To get motorists to slow down and encourage greater pedestrian traffic, the crosswalks have been raised.

Attention all drivers this is your third lesson on driving etiquette. but first i would like to remind all you idiot drivers who refuse to slow or stop when there is an obstruction in your lane of travel. when there is obstruction in your lane you must stop or slow to allow the oncoming vehicle has cleared your path… its that simple. the other day i came through an acc on east mountain rd around 1050 e mountain rd and a lawn care trailer was mangled up and two vehicles involved. looked to me like someone was in to much of a hurry and didn’t wait. i hope i’m wrong and really hoping someone didn’t get seriously hurt. not seeing in the wsfld news might mean everyone is fine…. can only hope. all right this is for those drivers who don’t leave at least one and a half car length from the veh in front of you. this is a real safety hazard. if something where to jump out in front of the first car there is no way you can stop. read the mud flaps on some of the veh in front of you and BACK OFF… remember driving is a privilege not a right. a little courtesy won’t kill ya a dumb driver will. next we hit the texting drivers…

hello folks from westfield… just a note to the pulse line. tx for sending someone up to check out the sign problem at the intersection of eastview and e. mountain. only problem was its the wrong sign, i never said anything about the grad sign.  (by the way congrats to all) i was talking about the real estate sign from Caldwell bankers. selling the house on the corner. if you come down the hill from eastview and look right you can not see the oncoming traffic. its that simple. there is going to be a tragic accident there. please sent the code enforcement officer to check it out. the pic of the grad sign was great though.tx concerned motorist
