I think that the Citizens of the fair City of Westfield should be thankful that we have such a beautiful city. For all of you that constantly complain about the new school, the Park Square Green, the Great River Bridges and that entire project. The pending PVTA bus terminal, etc., etc. Can you all just find something positive to say about the city? We finally have a Mayor that is driving us to be better, not only in who we are, but how we look as a City. And, you complain about the police? My God…this City is so safe, it’s unbelievable! The crime rate is very low…and you complain about the people that are responsible for that??? The new school…10 people trying to stop it…sound familiar? Are these the same 10 people that always protest any type of progress? The same ones that tried to prevent Stop and Shop from building where they are now…remember “Stop the Shop?” Lighten up people…make the most of this great City. We have a tremendous history here…appreciate it. The Town Green looks fabulous..and, yes, trees have been planted and will grow. Our kids will have a brand new, state of the art, green school…don’t we owe it to them? Even the local paper, The Westfield News, has been so much improved and looks great! My God People…appreciate what you have and make the most of the Community! I can’t wait to see the responses to this…

As I walk around my part of Westfield, I noticed that some really nice trees along Broad Street and Silver Street going into the Big Y are going to die an early death unless someone removes the some of the mulch that has been packed right up against the trunks of these trees. It would be too bad to lose these trees when a simple fix can be done.  Thanks.

Dear Pulse Line. I have an idea that will help the people of Westfield and the city. The City of Westfield has a fee for yard sale permits. A lot of people have yard sales so they have some money. Many, because of not knowing the rule in Westfield, don’t realize that you have to apply for a weekend permit, of a cost of around $25. If Westfield would have a free weekend for all of the residents of Westfield and The Westfield News announced it, think of the visitors that we would finally get back to our beautiful city to see how we have grown. The residents would now have money to shop in our city, pay our taxes and utilities. We would feel better to think that the city would give something back to us beside ask us to pay a new tax on something. It is one weekend a year. I would like to do this but because we live on a fixed income and $25 is a lot to come up with to find out that I may only break even when it would be nice to keep my fee and make $25. At least I would be ahead. I hope that the City of Westfield will think about my idea. We would have so many visitors from out of town to see what bargains they can get and help us out. Just an idea. Thanks for a great job informing us.

Hi. This is the about the dedication to the new bridge. You people have it in the paper as “bridges.” Only one bridge was renovated and only one bridge should be dedicated. You made a mistake, please correct it. Thank you.

Well I read in your paper all the hoopla about the big new bridge project and the destruction of anything historic in Westfield. Just look at what was called “The Green.” It is one big disaster. 100 and 100-plus year old trees cut down for this mess. These people should be hiding under their desks in disgrace, the politicians that pushed this through. I’m almost ashamed to say that I was born and grew up here.

Because he played a role in the historic destruction of Westfield, Representative Humason should turn in his “I Love Westfield” button.

How come a city this size only has a handfull of resturants to choose from. I can’t believe that something hasn’t been built beside the hotel off the the Pike enterence, perfect site. I’m not the only one who complains about a lack of options.
