Westfield teachers want paid for the six minutes additional work. Fine – pay them but then charge for the professional enrichment they are receiving. I believe I read earlier that teachers can use this training to gain step payroll increases. If these are the caliber of supposedly dedicated professionals helping to mold our youth we have a big problem. Time somebody stands up and says enough is enough.
Mr. Figy is last person we need as a city councilor. He and his wife are out of touch with regular folks. They’re both young retired city employees who get pension and healthcare benefits that no other regular worker gets. He made a good living on the tax, borrow, defer, and spend practices of this city. Now he wants to double-dip as a councilor. No thanks! We need fresh blood in the mayor’s office and on the city council. Nobody who is a lifelong government employee (or who’s married to one) should be considered.
I, too, remember when the Country Store on Little River Rd. was a vegetable stand and see it is asking for zone change “to bring it up to date with zoning”. Is this the next step to convert this one time vegetable stand to a connivance store with a sub shop, donut shop, and gas station? What about the vegetable sand down the road -will that be the next one to ask for zone change?
Just a thought. You know, with all the talk about the post office being in such deep doodoo and everything, has anybody thought about the advertising they do during prime time on television? That must be costing them millions of dollars. If they stopped that advertising and then started doing some smart things like furloughing people perhaps one day out of each month so that people would be off, would be working four days and off one day, maybe that could start the ball rolling. The other thing to think about is why don’t they do a trial run? Let’s say the third Saturday of every month stop mail delivery and do a trial run until August, and then go full force in August and stop the mail on Saturdays. If they use their brains maybe they could regain a little bit of the money they say they’re losing. Just a thought. I think if some of the citizens got together and put their heads together they could come up with a lot of valuable information for the post office to use and ways that they could cut costs without making things tough on everybody. But it’s about time that somebody taught them how to save some money like businesses have to do.
I read the Ward 4 city council update and then I reread it. Nope –still haven’t found the Ward 4 part of the Ward 4 city council update. Maybe next time.
Good morning Westfield! Wednesday, April 10th and I don’t know if you saw it but The Westfield News Monday announced that somebody is running against our Mayor Knapik here in Westfield so I want everybody to get out and vote. Everybody get out and vote for this person. I’m sure he will be a better mayor than what we have right now. At least somebody new in the Westfield political picture. And I just want to say it made me very happy – popped a little bottle of champagne and enjoyed myself. So, good luck and remember get out and vote when it’s time to. Thank you. Also, enjoy the weather. Thank you.
Southwick Police Department: How did you like the slap in the face you just got from your two selectmen? You didn’t even have a chance to give them a letter of intention for being interested in becoming the Chief of Police. Going through the back door again – that’s what these gentlemen are known for.
Hi. I’m concerned about these parents that walk their children to meet the school bus. And they congregate on the corner. And early in the morning they’re very loud. And I find it unnecessary to be that loud when people are still sleeping. And this has been going on for a long time. And I think it would be nice if they would lower it down. The children, I grant you, have to meet the bus there. But there should be something done about respect for other people’s property. They don’t have to run all over the yard and… oh, you know how it is. And that is my complaint for the day. Thank you for listening. Bye now.
Thank God we have some one running for Mayor. For all those that have been complaining about Mayor Knapik now is our chance to vote him out. If you do not vote then do not complain. Lets put our vote to good use. I do not know much about Mr. Roeder and I look forward to finding more about him. He sounds like a good person that’s been around long enough to know what Westfield needs. To Mr. Roeder please let us know more about you and what you can do for Westfield and thank you for coming forward. Westfield this is good news. Readers can look forward to coverage of the mayoral campaign and ward races here in The Westfield News . No other media source covers Westfield, Southwick and the Hill Towns in as timely a manner as we do.
