I think single stream recycling will make my life easier. I disagree with the mayor that more people will be encouraged to opt into the recycling program since there will be no more separation of paper, plastic and glass required. I also know, as a family of four who consistently recycles, that our current 90-gallon trash barrel is necessary for regular non-recycled waste. I do welcome new recycle barrels that will have wheels, as the green paper bins tend to get very heavy. We recycle three daily newspapers and a number of magazines every other week. When I walk in my neighborhood I am very disappointed in the number of houses who choose not to recycle and feel some reward program for consistent recyclers or an assessment to those families who choose to not recycle may encourage better recycling results.
