I cannot believe that Westfield would rather have an empty store front instead of a legitimate business. The owner of the Smoke Shop on East Main Street is not forcing people to enter his store and purchase any products. Aren’t we, as adults, able to make our own decisions on what we purchase. So it’s OK to purchase cigarettes, which cause cancer, yet it is illegal to sale items which may ‘introduce into the human body a controlled substance’. Forget the pipe, how about a carton of cigarettes – that’s legal; oh yes, so is marijuana now.

I was appalled at the reference made about the lazy landlord, first off I live in Arbor Park which is owned by the same landlord as Henry’s and we have rules that state that animals are not to be left unattended even in a fenced yard, we are not allowed to tie a dog out or have a kennel… It is the sole responsibility of the home owner to see that your pet has fresh, cool water at all times and “NOT” the land lord…. I feel bad for the animals that have died or been taken away as the results of the poor judgment of the pet owner during these many heat waves we have experienced this summer, but Please people, lets put the responsibility where it rightfully belongs.. We also have to make sure that we pick up our dogs litter when we walk them as to keep the park clean… It is a privilege to own an animal in the park, not a right… I personally think that the land owner is very caring as we have to prove that we have gotten our dogs shots and licensed….. Sincerely, Pat in Arbor Park

Yeah, I was reading The Westfield News Monday and it had a picture, bottom of the front page, of the local smoke shop owner who was upset because the police told him to remove all that paraphernalia and stuff. And he comes back saying well if I can’t sell that I’ll be out of business. Well, that’s OK. Take it back to India where you got it from. Thank you.

Yes, I was just watching the news tonight on the Daniel Leary case from Southwick. He only got 5-7 years but he killed somebody drinking and driving. He should have got the minimum of 20 years. That should be like murder, first-degree murder here. I mean double the alcohol – what was he thinking? They should have gave him 20 years.

Southwick, here we go again. Two good ol’ boy selectmen going around to the back door. Not following the laws of the town in selecting a director for the DPW and a working foreman. They’re going to monkey around with it until they get their buddies in those two positions, then they’ll hire ‘em.
