What is going on with the Russell Select Board? It seems that everything thing they do creates a controversy. Whether it be the biomass issue, grants for road repairs, the hiring of a police chief, and now the loss of jobs at Texon. These folks just can’t get anything right. The citizens of Russell deserve better.

The Wreaths Across America was a wonderful event for the City of Westfield but it is disturbing that the article fails to mention the students from Franklin Avenue and St. Mary’s. Almost three hundred children and families from Franklin Avenue School lined Elm Street between Orange and Franklin Street. The hike from the school to Elm Street was accomplished by even the smallest of the kindergarten students. As they walked down Orange, they were joined by neighbors from throughout the Franklin Avenue School district. At the intersection of Elm and East Bartlett, it looked like the entire St. Mary’s School was out to join in the honoring. Please stop overlooking the downtown schools. They may not have the money of some of the other schools but they have the heart. They and their families are and will be a large part of the downtown revitalization.
