After reading the Thurs. Dec.13 front page story about the Mayor’s next big money idea all I can think of is WHEN IS THE POCHASSIC ST.BRIDGE GOING TO BE FIXED? Enough with all of his dreams of Westfield being THE destination of all! How about making it livable for all of us that have endured years of inconvenience and rising taxes! What makes him think that we want to keep paying for his fantasy world? Mayor Knapik, I tried to shop downtown on support small business Saturday. I went to 7 shops, and guess what? I’ve never had such a sad shopping experience. FIX OUR BRIDGE! We’ve been waiting long enough.  The city of Westfield over the last three years has returned approximately 1.8 million dollars to the taxpayers by limiting the levy growth, which is a byproduct of limiting budget growth. The bridge is being worked on presently.

In accordance with President Obama’s proclamation, please be advised that Governor Deval L. Patrick has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings until sunset on December 18, 2012 as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut.  This gubernatorial order applies to: 1.  The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls.  2.  Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings.  3.  All state military installations.
