Pulseline

PulseLine, December 15, 2015

I must agree with the taxpayer who wrote the Pulseline article concerning the reporting of the recent tax increase. I interpreted the article to indicate an increase of around 2 percent, certainly not 4.85 percent. I’m not angry with the Westfield Evening news for the increase, we must save that emotion for all the city councilors that ran on a tax relief platform in Novembers election (Liars, Liars, pants on fire). However I have noticed in previous city government issues that the News does not report the entire story, just the part that makes the city government look good. I think you folks are somewhat biased. So try accepting some suggestions by your readers with a little more grace. I’m not going to cancel my subscription but I do want all the facts printed concerning economic issues with city government, school teachers contracts, etc. Anything that consistently drives up our already burdensome tax rates. By the way, as a senior citizen, the federal government has just told me that there was no inflation this year, therefor no social security COLA next year, so I don’t understand why the city would need so much extra in the absence of any inflationary factor!

WSU students who feel unwelcomed and shunned please read the article in the Westfield News titled License Commission reviews crowd management policies.
