I have read about all the wonderful new projects recommended to city council to improve the downtown area, yet the truth is that the city is unable to implement a simple maintenance improvement on two conspicuous downtown buildings right on the new park. The two buildings in question are on the corner of School Street and Elm street. One, the now defunct coffee & sandwich shop has become a rusted eyesore and the building directly across from it has not been painted in the 35 years I have lived here. If you drive into center city on Rt. #20, these two ugly buildings are staring you right in the face. Perhaps our new Mayor and our city councilors should correct this rather obvious problem before requesting more money from the taxpayers.
