Why are all the restaurants in Westfield serving to-go food in styrofoam containers? Styrofoam is not only a known carcinogen but it also creates disposal problems with its bulkiness and longevity. I don’t understand Westfield’s love affair with styrofoam and think we should join the 13 other communities in Massachusetts that have banned restaurants from serving food in styrofoam containers. On Jan. 21, The Westfield News Radio Show had Westfield’s Director of Public Health as a guest and he informed the listeners that Westfield has adopted a “no styrofoam container” ordinance which goes into effect later this year.

Good morning Westfield, Will the person that owns the rooster on Meadow Street, please keep it in your yard and make sure that it does not crow early in the morning.  I don’t know the laws regarding having chickens but I know that you are suppose to make sure that they are in your control.  We have pictures of it running loose.  Please consider your neighbors as we live here also and don’t want to share with you. There are specific ordinances pertaining to fowl kept at a residence. Please contact the Westfield Police Dept.

On Friday, January 28, the police were summoned to St. Mary’s Parish School. I want to commend and thank the 13 officers (some of which were off duty) and 5 cruisers that responded so rapidly. Two police cars were on scene before the call to 911 ended. I am so thankful and grateful to live in a community where the safety of our students is a top priority for our police department. THANK YOU to the WPD
