So who is the new homeless guy at the old Westfield hotel who is always sleeping on the benches in the afternoon?

Good morning.  I think the public works department should be complimented for the snow plowing, and the contractors that they’ve hired.  Super-duper jobs – main drags right down to the bare pavement after two storms and I think every so often they deserve exactly what this is: a very big thank you. Have a nice day.

Now that we can once again make comments, I want to point out that Ward Two has been without representation since September.  Guess our dictator mayor hasn’t come up with an option where he can get another yes man on the council.  Mr Mayor: since we’ve had no councilor to vote on the tax shift, does this mean we pay the old tax rate? There hasn’t been a day of PulseLine comments not being published while we worked with our voicemail provider to get the messages cleared to allow for more phone comments.  Btw, this comment was phoned in by somebody reading from something they wrote down, as many of the phoned-in comments are.

Hi, yeah, it’s Saturday the 29th and, as you all know, it’s snowing like mad.  I have the private contractors doing my side streets, plowing, and they’re going around going crazy trying to polish the road to beautiful when it’s still snowing like crazy.  Should they not just make it passable and then finish when the snow dies, as a side street? I say this as a taxpayer and I think they’re wasting our money and I’m wondering if you could tell me or find out if anybody monitors their actions and how much time they waste and what they do? Because they do this every time, all the time, you know.  From what I hear they get $100  an hour.  Don’t know if that’s right, you might want to let me know on that.  But it’s still snowing like crazy and they’re wasting money.  It’s a side street with 5/6 houses on it.  So, to the mayor and everybody paying this, can you please monitor these guys?  They’re just sucking up money. My taxpaying money, which has gone almost quadruple in the 11 years, I’ve owned my house even though there’s new businesses and houses and stuff where it should lower. OK, thank you for your time and if you could get that information I’d appreciate it.  Have a nice New Years!

Hello Pulseline, in response to the Susan Duffy article, she is being held in her recognizance til March.  Why wasn’t she put in jail right away? She’s been out now for 2 years awaiting this trial.  Who, may I ask, did she know to get off this easy with 12- 18 months in prison?  You know as well as I do she will never be able to pay back the city $108,000 and IRS $30,000.  It will come out of our taxpayers’ pockets.  Not only that, it was never publicized til now who the person was for 2 years.  It was kept secret.  Shame on the person who works for our accounting dept in city hall. Whatever happened that they did not pick this up for 3 years? That’s a huge chunk of change to go unnoticed.  Tells me someone does not do his or her job well. They, too, should be held accountable in some way. Another thing –  answer me this: the article states she is tenure.  Does she still qualify for her pension from the city and will she be given any benefits from the city? While she was out of work for the two years was she being paid by the city or collecting unemployment????? When she gets out of prison is the city still going to pick up her health care, or be responsible for any benefits because of tenure? Thank You from a concerned senior citizen taxpayer….
