Just wondering if Mayor Knapik has children who will benefit from His new school on Cross St., a short walk from his front door? What reason did City Hall drum up for not using the spacious and easy access land off Franklin St where Franklin Ave School is now located. That would have met the criteria for a downtown school to accept the funding. I guess Frank Sinatra’s words would ring true for the Mayor, “The record shows I took the blows and did it my way! Yes, it was my way.”  Can’t wait to see how bad he screws up the Western Ave area, the for sale signs are already going up.

Hi! I’m really excited that you’re taking phone calls again  – PulseLine calls through the phone, and I’ll have a comment pretty soon, but anyways thank you, thank you, thank you.  Have a Happy New Year!

Yes, I would like to comment on Franklin Street Speedway.  People should be going slower on Franklin Street and the cops should monitor it better because they’re speeding too fast, they don’t respect the crosswalks, and they need to start getting with the program.  They need to slow it down on Franklin Street instead of racing like a mad cow, crazy.  Thank you.

In response to the gentleman who recently wrote in complaining about the lack of articles in the PulseLine and the poor sports coverage: I agree with you that the paper was much more interesting when there were more articles in the PulseLine and that’s one of the main reasons many folks bought the paper.  In fact, we find solutions to problems there – I just found a shoe repair person in Westfield, thanks to a reader.  However, I have one huge disagreement with him!! The sports section is TREMENDOUS! In all the years I have been reading The Westfield News, there has never been such coverage of local sports teams and the fantastic pictures! Would that they had been covering local sports like this when my three sons were starring in athletics back in the l970s!!!  I would have loved it.  Even though I have no personal interest in it these days, I still appreciate it from a parents’ point of view and congratulate The Westfield News for the great work!  Thank you for the supporting comments about our sports coverage. As for the PulseLine, we print virtually every comment that comes in. We give a priority to electronically submitted items since those are the easiest to get in the paper. If we have time then we will transcribe the messages left on voice-mail and lately with the holidays we’ve had the time to get all comments in. As always, we will not put in personal attacks or negative comments about businesses due to liability issues.

Happy New Year Westfield! I was wondering if anyone knows of a local Tai Chi Club/or Group or if there is one at Westfield State University.  Also is there a Drumming Group?  Thank you for any information.
