Yes, I see where the Gateway teachers face a possible layoff because the shortfall of the budget in Boston. Well, I think one way they could recoup some of their money is to cut some of those salaries they give those government people in Boston, starting right with the governor. And that might help people who are working honestly such as the teachers. They deserve to keep their job. I would suggest they stop paying these exorbitant bonuses in Boston government. So, that’s the way to do it. Cut back on the high-paying jobs in Boston, who don’t really earn it. And let’s keep the teachers. We need the teachers more. Thank you.

As I watch the dog and pony shows put on by Councilor Flaherty at the last two council meetings, this quote seems to fit the councilor to a T – the hypocrisy of our fiscal watchdog is this: while he is looking out for taxpayers, he is not looking out for the safety and betterment of our community, and his voting record proves it. Thank you.

Southwick: now that this Southwick Volunteer Fire Department Association decided not to run the carnival event anymore and turn their interests to the golf tournament, which has been a full success and makes more money, the organization that took over the carnival did a fantastic job. We hope that they’re going to continue doing this, maybe add another day for some other events to make it a longer weekend. We look forward to Southwick town activities expanding. Thank you.

I am appalled. I go up and down Lindbergh Boulevard three, sometimes four, times a day, and there has been a sofa and a chair out at the curbside for a couple of months now. Are these people going to keep it there all winter? What’s wrong with the residents on Lindbergh Boulevard that they don’t do something about it? We have an ordinance about unregistered cars on your property. How about an ordinance about keeping unused furniture out the roadside for months and months on end? These people have no respect for their neighborhood apparently; otherwise they would have had it removed by someone, or at least moved it to the back of their house until bulk pickup started again next year. Please, if you are the people that have that, please remove it.

Hi! I’m calling about garbage and the litter on the street. Can’t help but notice that most of it is our bad habits that are out there. We have cans of soda, plastic water bottles (I guess that MIGHT be good for us), wrappers, cigarette packs, cigarettes and other bad habits like lottery tickets, nip bottles… the nip bottles confused me for a while, and then I figured out that they are open containers and they have to get rid of it because they’re driving and drinking. I hope more people will try to keep the trash in their car and deposit it somewhere else rather than throwing it on the streets.
