Ok The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Implemented the Airport tax in 2012 ……The airport manager new that this tax was going to be there back 2012..Why did he not tell B’shara back when he was first told of the new tax in 2012 that there was going to be this new tax and that we have to make arrangements for an increase on your monthly rent to offset the new tax so there would have been No Surprises and a small business owner would still be there in business making a living and keeping his HELP working and Employed if even Part Time ?? I am sure there could have been another way for the Politicians and the Airport Manager to have handled that whole situation a whole lot better with B’Shara’s that all parties would have been happy !! And my thought on Tommy D’S…The License Commission / City Officials could have made him pay for a Police Officer to be placed there during his business hours for safety reasons or concerns rather than revoke his license…He could have remained open for business making a living along with all of his HELP under a controlled watch by the police officer hired and everything would have worked out a lot better than putting another Small Business out of business…There again, There are always way to work together in resolving issues that make a Small Business owner go out of business in these trying economic days…They are just trying to make a living….How Many Jobs Already just between these 3 SMALL BUSINESSES ( The Self Storage Company / B’Sharas and Tommy D’s ) have been LOST !! More unemployment is not needed …The Town of Westfield needs to come up with Better ways of handling this and keeping the Small Business Person thriving rather than putting them out of business !!….All small businesses are still Tax Payers !! A Quarter Loaf of bread is Better than No Bread at all …Just one Person’s opinion !!

I was just reading the article in Monday’s paper about the Water Commission not supporting the House Bill 2926 that allows residents to opt out of smart meters and prohibits utility companies from charging for the additional service needed to support analogue meters. Why there is great controversy over “scientific evidence” relative to health problems people are experiencing, they can be a fire hazard and the facts are out there. The meters have caused fires all over the country and Canada. A June 15, 2012 presentation by the Ontario Fire Marshal analyzes the numerous smart meter fires being reported in Canada and abroad and states: “We encountered an unusual amount of fire incidents involving smart meters…prior to any proper investigation the utility company had removed and replaced the meters from the affected areas…New meters may have defects that cause electrical failures (or they may be caused by) careless installation during change over…”. Also, Details have come to light of a man killed by a Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Smart Meter that caught fire in Vacaville, CA on July 9th, 2010. Larry Nikkel died from a suspicious electrical fire that consumed his home the day after Wellington Energy, contractors for PG&E, installed a Landis & Gyr “smart” electric meter. A wrongful death suit lawsuit filed by the family against the utility, subcontractor, and meter manufacturer has now been settled for an undisclosed sum. I for one don’t feel comfortable being a guinea pig for these things. Until further studies are done we need to support this bill.

This message is for the mayor. Please, please, please don’t let Westfield go down the tubes. We can already see a lot of the lines are starting to wear away, some people are already not keeping part of Park Square up to speed. We have to maintain it because if you don’t we all know what’s going to happen. Please Mayor, make sure that the DPW does their job and keeps downtown looking good. Thank you.
