Hi! The other day I thought I’d do something different so I drove downtown and parked in one of the public parking lots behind The Tavern and I thought I’d go over to the Green to sit back on a bench and watch the world go by for a while seeing as I’m retired. I got over there and I found there are only a couple benches and they don’t have backs on them. I like to sit back and relax. Doesn’t this sound a little strange? You’re supposed to have a park square with benches and things so people can relax. Just my comment. Thank you.

Yes, I’d like to know who makes the decisions for the entertainment coming to Westfield. We need so many other things in Westfield. We need roads. We need street cleaned and here they are paying big money to bring music to the “beautiful Green.” I mean the concrete jungle. There’s hardly any green there and they’re bringing entertainment there that costs who know how much instead of doing improvements to the city.

Hi PulseLine. On July 23, 2013, I went to Amelia Park to hear a group called Slickpickers Bluegrass Band. A few years ago I heard the band play at a few different places. They had a good sound back then but the guys playing were totally different than the guys playing now. The band I heard a few years ago sang and played good and true bluegrass music. At that time, there was a big guy with a beard who played a lot of the old bluegrass songs and a few Johnny Cash songs that I love and enjoy. He picked a bluegrass style of guitar fabulously. There was an older fellow as well who sang a lot of the old songs that sounded real nice. They had a good sound back then. I saw only one of the original fellows, the tall guy, at Amelia Park on the 23rd. The band sounded nothing like the Slickpickers. My intention is not to criticize but I wish this band would change their name so people won’t mistake them for the original Slickpickers, which was a good-sounding band. Thanks.
