To the person wondering why customers complain when their paper is too wrinkled. You are right, the “kids” do a fantastic job getting us our paper each and every day but what’s the point if I can’t read it?? It seems to me it takes extra effort to roll the paper so tight that it is unreadable. If they can’t do the job correctly, maybe it’s time for someone else to take over. What’s the point of sitting down looking at your paper if you can’t read it…
OMG! My first time writing to the PulseLine! And even more remarkable, I have all good things to say! I have lived in Westfield almost 30 years and ever since I came here, there has been talk of a new bridge. We finally have it! For almost as long, there have been comments about our “green” looking a bit shabby and needing a facelift. We finally have it! I can’t say enough good things about the direction we are taking. I love it. I am proud of it. I think Don Humason should hand out those buttons like the one he wears. I want one. And as far as the fireworks go, they were beautiful and a fine way to celebrate the birthday of our wonderful nation!! Thank you, Rotarians! Signed, The Cheerleader
Why is Elm Street being lowered under the railroad bridge? The bridge will never see another train and probably never see a bicycle either. It would be cheaper to remove the bridge as was done on Main Street; another example of wasteful spending of grant money. My tax money. If we had responsible government in Boston and D.C. there would be no grant money, therefore no sales tax or income tax. But that makes too much sense and we don’t like that around here.
So things are finally getting done downtown, hooray! In Tuesday’s paper there is a page dedicated to clarifying traffic patterns. Here is one that remains unanswered: When we go south over the bridge to take the left to get to Meadow Street, people always stop before the clock, leaving the left turn lane empty. I think the intention was for cars to pull forward to face the church, but not to block the crosswalk across Elm Street (people stop at this line for the light). This lane serves no other purpose but to allow cars to turn toward Meadow Street (or back north), so there is no reason for it to remain empty between light cycles. We can get three or four more cars through the light per cycle if they pull forward. The traffic light on the clock island seems to serve no purpose, except to be a harbinger of the status of the light to take the left toward Meadow Street. A sign would help or take down the seemingly useless light. What is the “right” answer, oh mighty Pulse Line?
This is to the person who seems to think they know all about the people that deliver the newspapers in Westfield. For your information, they are not all kids… The people that deliver our paper are ADULTS and if I could race out to their car to catch them to talk to them about it, I would, but they drive through our neighborhood so fast you can barely see who they are. So they’re not kids, I’m not going to cut them a break. They should know better. Why don’t you just mind your own business until you know what you’re talking about?
Happy 4th of July. Verizon put on a late penalty tax for telephone service because of the Verizon strikers and Social Security is going to end up paying for them. I’d like to inform Kerry Brown and the Attorney General of this horrible penalty tax. Thank you.
Once again the weeds have grown to such a height as you cross the bridge near the Crane Building coming from Southwick that you take your life in your hands every time you try to make a left turn onto Mill Street. It is impossible to see the on-coming traffic. A friend of mine called the Department of Public Works in Westfield to report it several weeks ago but nothing has been done. This problem exists every year and they usually wait for weeks before they pay attention and take care of it. One of these days there is going to be a serious accident and then perhaps they will take action. I sent this to both of the e-mail addresses I have for you since I don’t know which one is correct, but I hope one is. I didn’t find the address when I looked at the paper today to see where to send it. Perhaps it would be a good idea to include it in the black square at the top of the column? The start of the new fiscal year means the city now has money to engage a mowing contractor.
