Yes, Friday I was driving by the soup kitchen, and I see now that they give them chairs to sit on out front.

Attention vacationers! I don’t work for either of these businesses, so I’m not gaining anything but, the satisfaction of someone else having an enjoyable day like I did. For small children or adults, in the town of Granville there’s a couple-hundred-year-old business called the Noble and Cooley Drum Shop, where they make drums and small toys. They’re famous. They’re known around the world. They make drums for the big rock stars. They have a museum there, which is very interesting to go through, like I said, for children or just adults. And just down the road from Noble and Cooley is The Granville Scoop, a very enjoyable stop for ice cream or a small sandwich or something cold to drink. They have a small animal farm there to entertain the children. Yes, right in Granville, close to home. Inexpensive. An enjoyable day. I hope at least one of you do the same as I did and enjoy the day. PulseLine, thanks for being there.

I did read the most recent article in the paper regarding B’Shara’s….It said that he did have 5 years rent free per the lease agreement and that was to cover his expenses for remodeling and setting up his restaurant which worked for both parties at the time…..It also stated that when the 5 years were up that B’Shara’s would start to pay the rent of $1000.00 per month..It did not state at the time of the original agreement that there would be tax to pay on the amount of Space he was renting in the airport municipal building that he would have to pay extra taxes ..He did know that there was to be personal property tax on his Equipment and the rent on the property but to throw in that extra tax was not needed ..That is where I am saying that is Total Greed !! And the Self Storage Company !! To go up 200 percent on his rent and basically kick him out of there after 30 years knowing that there would be no way he could afford the new rent amount and to make his renewals Yearly..He is a Storage Company, How can he tell his clients that I can only rent for one year at a time because I do not know if I will have a lease next year !! And after kicking him out by raising his rent so he could not be able to afford it just so the Town of Westfield and the Airport manager could Start outside bidding in August on that property starting at $2500.00 per month and also pay and average of $1700.00 every 3 months for the Tax on that Property adding in another $550.00 plus to the rent monthly!!! How can anyone small business succeed in this Town with that type of rent on our towns for rent property…Like I wrote in the last article, What the heck is this town doing to all of our Small Businesses !! Again, Thank You to the Airport Manager and to the Politicians involved in ruining not just one small business but 2 that were only trying to make a Living !! Oh ya, And what about all of the People that were Renting Units at the self Storage and Now Have To Move Out and find new places to Move there belongings.. What about all of them Votes !! Oh ya. Let us not forget the Third Small business in less than 2 months that the politicians / board of Westfield put out of Business–Tommy D’s !! They could have just giving him a Stern warning but instead They Suspend his license……Just another family man trying to make a living here in Westfield!! ….. A Quarter Loaf of Bread is better than No bread at All !!! Just one person’s opinion… About B’shara’s, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts implemented the tax on airport properties across the state, not the City of Westfield, in 2012 so there was no way the city could have known, with any tenant there, that their agreement five years ago would need to include this increase when it was due for renewal. As for Tommy D’s, we have printed articles regarding the License Commissions issuing previous “stern warnings” resulting from earlier incidents at that establishment. City officials in conjunction with the Police Dept. determined that the removal of their license was the correct next step.

Last week you ran an article from Chief Anderson, Southwick Fire Department. He was explaining the steps that had to be taken to obtain a permit for the town fireworks and how involved it is. He said many times in the article that fireworks were illegal in Mass. How is it a person can have a fireworks display (which was an hour long) in a crowded neighborhood and not be shut down by Chief Anderson…or the Southwick Police??? Why state all the facts, have the article in the newspaper for people to read and then NOT follow through!?!?! Just another point of interest— there are also big signs on the Mass turnpike stating that fireworks are illegal in Mass which if caught could bring jail time!
