Attention all drivers: this is your second lesson on driving etiquette. As I mentioned in the first lesson about obstruction, this one will be about emergency vehicles approaching w/lights and siren. When an emergency vehicle approaches from behind, you must pull to the RIGHT of the roadway as safely as possible and STOP. All emergency vehicles should pass to the left. When an emergency vehicle is coming toward you, you must pull to the RIGHT and slow down. Please remember to do this as carefully as possible. Please do not pull to the left, stop completely in the path of the emergency vehicle, or try to outrun them. Now, all this info can be found in the RMV handbook that young drivers are reading to take the test. We all need to be a little more courteous. Remember, also, driving is a privilege – not a right!  A slogan from years past: a little courtesy won’t kill ya….. a dumb driver will. Next time big campaign on texting drivers…. this we need to stop before they really hurt someone.
