The RT#187 updating is just about finished, the state has spent 3 years and millions of dollars and it looks and drives wonderful. Unfortunately the final phase of painting the traffic lines has not gone well. The painting crew dropped a very large glob of white paint on the road at the Ridgecrest intersection and simply rode off into the sunset. Millions of dollars and these lazy individuals have defaced all that good work. Nice job painting crew, you must be proud of your work ethic! The Westfield News reached out to the DPW and learned that the substance that you note did not come from the contractor assigned to paint the lines on Rte 187/Little River Rd. It is believed to have come from a driver who had an unsecured item that fell off causing the blemish to the road. The DPW is aware and if the natural road travel and weather does not wear it away then other means will be used to remove it.
