This is a message to the Pulseline. Have you folks noticed that the Pulseline, once one of the most active features of your paper is almost defunct. Ordinary people need a place to safely express their thoughts, even if we don’t always agree with them. They don’t need to be scolded or told that they should have contacted some city official or department. They already know it and probably have made some effort without success. For certain the Pulseline should not be used for personal attacks or uninhibited ranting, we really do need to be civilized. However this is America, we all win when we honor freedom of speech and you don’t have to be a journalistic scholar to speak your truth. You are a local newspaper, let the local folks have their opinions known, everyone will feel better in the long term. We still print every and all submissions sent to us through e-mail, like yours, or submitted via our web site https://thewestfieldnews.com/pulseline-form and we replay the appropriate voice-mails on The Westfield News Radio Show each Thursday morning on WSKB 89.5fm. We are never intentionally scolding people but hopefully helping educate people on the proper channels for solving their problems.
