I was one of the thirty or so people at last night’s city council finance committee meeting. I actually felt sorry for the mayor. The councilors absolutely shredded his presentation. It was embarrassing. From what I gathered, his budget forecasts contained major mathematical errors as well as ridiculous assumptions about the future. I don’t know how anyone could have sat through that meeting and left feeling comfortable about the mayor’s ability to put together any budget. There were many city managers and union members in the room. Several were nodding their heads in disgust. Curiously absent were councilors Sullivan, Bean, and Adams – whom all made grand speeches during the regular city council meeting.

I heard on the radio today that Springfield has 30 gangs.  Does anyone know: does Westfield have gangs here? I’ve noticed building being tagged the last couple of years or so.  Just wondering.  Thank you.  Bye.

Southwick: are you following the phase two sewer project? Looks like they’re going to do just the school campus and that’s all.  Those who want it will be cut out this phase and you’re going to pay even more for the next phase if there ever is one in our lifetime.
