Good evening Westfield! I’d like to comment on between Elm Street and Old Pochassic Road, those lights have too much weight to it today. When I was walking my dog today, there’s too much weight on that light. There’s like eight lights on the lamppost and it was bending when the wind was blowing. And also I’d like to comment on the walkway in back by the old railroad station. They’re building a new walkway for the bridge. There’s a lot of hoodlums around that will write on that bridge and hopefully Westfield will put a lot of cameras up and monitor that bridge. Also, I’d like to comment on underneath the Westfield Bridge, the Green Bridge, the first one, the old green bridge, there’s a lot of clothes and a lot of trash under that bridge. That is disgusting under the bridge. And hopefully the DPW will be cleaning it up, because of homeless people and they don’t know where the trash is and they’ve been throwing a lot of trash and clothes and everything under there. And I would like to comment on that and hopefully Westfield can clean that up. And thank you very much. Bye-bye. Have a nice night, guys. Bye.
I’m sure Laurie Varelas is not looking for a handout. If you read the article from March 1st you will see that the bank told Laurie there was no discussion. They may have had trouble with the previous owner. I would think that the Good Table would be willing to work with the bank and other surrounding businesses to find a solution to the parking problem. I don’t think bashing someone you don’t know is going to help the situation. The Good Table is very busy and an asset to our downtown and parking is an issue for many downtown business. They should all try to work together.
This is Katherine Berz and I’m calling about the lack of advertising for the Springfield Falcons. Since you do a full-page ad for NASCAR, why can’t you do something about them? They’ve been in first place all season long and will be going into the playoffs this year. Thank you and have a good day. The NASCAR page we do on Saturday’s is part of a syndicated service we subscribe to. It comes to us packaged in the format you see each week. As for the Springfield Falcons, it would be very difficult for us to cover the team properly. There isn’t enough information provided through our wire service on the team to give you timely and accurate information and we cannot afford assigning someone to follow them all season long.
I’m a 100 percent disabled American veteran. I want to know why with the new flag pole in the park – where are the national colors? Where are the stars and stripes? Who is responsible for this? And let’s get those flags flying. The flag pulley system is broken and being repaired, leaving the Stars and Stripes flying at the fire station a few yards away the only flag flying there for now.
