Why all the fuss about Massachusetts cemetaries unwilling to accept the body of a foreign terrorist who was willing to accept support from a country he hated while making bombs to destroy its’ citizens? I would suggest cremation, then pack the remains in a pressure cooker weighted down with enough nails, BB’s and other shrapnel to be sure it cannot float, then delivering the package to the captain of the next submarine leaving New London for appropriate disposal well outside of out territorial waters.

Southwick: what’s the matter with you people? You don’t know which direction to in? John Whalley has spent a lot of money in your town and he wants a log transfer station, just off of College Highway. He also guarantees that you won’t know it’s there and he’ll disguise it. But then over on Sheep Pasture Road, 273, there is one there. You allow him to have one and not Mr. Whalley?

Dear Pulse Line, THANK YOU to our Westfield Representative, Mr. Humason! Also to Southwick’s Nick Boldyga and Palmer’s Todd Smola. These three men tried to reduce MA tax spending and cut welfare fraud but were outvoted (of course) by the rest of the Massachusetts representatives. The three amendments voted on were: to limit to 25 percent the number of welfare recipients who can be exempted that requires some receipts to perform work related activity to receive benefits, requiring tenants and applicants for subsidized housing to provide their social security number to verify income eligibility for public housing and to enforce penalties and fines (already in place) on individuals and businesses who misuse EBT cards (welfare cards). Humason, Boldyga and Smola all voted FOR these amendments to reduce fraud in the MA welfare system and were outvoted. To read the entire article go to: Sunday Republican, May 5, 2013, “How They Voted”, Massachusetts Legislature, HOUSE. BTW – This should be added to the Westfield News so we don’t have to buy the Republican. It is of great importance to Westfield voters to know how our House, Senate and Congress vote on issues that affect our taxes, jobs and economy. After the sorry showing at the polls for the MA primary senate seat people need to be better informed on the people who represent us in our government. We couldn’t agree more that readers should be paying attention and getting involved. Though we did not offer this “How They Voted” feature, we do offer Rep. Humason’s weekly columns (Three Long Days: https://thewestfieldnews.com/?p=50053) and the same opportunity to Rep. Boldyga (Taxes and More Taxes: https://thewestfieldnews.com/?p=49161.) We also offer our readers regular columns from the Mayor of Westfield, Southwick Selectboard members, Westfield City Councilors, and school officials in Westfield, Southwick and the surrounding hilltowns.

Good afternoon. I do hope that maybe The Westfield News can come up with this answer, or possibly a city councilman or maybe an auditor but as I drove through town, you know, on a consistent basis for the past few months, there’s new truck, new trucks, new trucks. So, the health department, the public works, dump trucks, pickup trucks, the fire department I realize has just purchased additional products, water department trucks, airport trucks, dog catcher, park department… There is a tremendous amount of new trucks in our city and I’m just wondering if we went a little overboard here. I’m curious on the amount of trucks that were purchased within the last two years. I’m interested if we had to bond them or with an outright cash outlay. But due to the fact that every department seems to be loaded with brand new vehicles… by the way, including the police department, too… maybe you can answer: amount of trucks that were purchased, or vehicles that were purchased, and did we bond them for the last two years? Thanks. You can read more about the city’s efforts to replace it’s aging vehicle fleet here: https://thewestfieldnews.com/?p=49674, https://thewestfieldnews.com/?p=34516, and here https://thewestfieldnews.com/?p=29015

Normally neighbors are supposed to take care of their homes and look after one another, but what I saw on Western Circle is unbelievable.  Not only a health hazard but a fire hazard to the home itself and to the neighbors’ homes and those living on Western Circle know which house I’m talking about.  Somebody do something.
