I always think of my brother Charlie at this time of year but since he has been gone it seems to be even more often….his life was his family and his city……he gave most of his adult life to keeping our city fair to each and every citizen in it ….he fought for the rights of the real people the middle class and poor…..he knew that the people were what was most important and often published in the paper meetings he knew were important to the people and told them when and where certain issues would be discussed and voted on so that they would have the opportunity to speak up for their own concerns.I am not very computer literate and tried to contact the politicians through the site but couldn’t seem to master the mechanics of it so I am posting it here hoping at least some of them care enough about the people who pay their paycheck than they do the wants of the man who signs them…..I live on less than half of what I made ten years ago when I retired yet my bills are pretty much the same of higher, I think its time to try to help the people live more comfortably and stop spending money to make the city look pretty . I saw the Mayors add and it is true he is more interested in the city than the people …I need financial relief not modern buildings and town squares when the one we had was much nicer and really didn’t need to be overhauled in my opinion. It seems to me that I am being nickle and dimed to death with stupid fees like the sewer maintainance fee which is small but adds up over the years especially since I am the one who is expected to keep the drain at the end of my driveway fee of debris and ice and snow….and again even though I received a letter from my councilman explaining what he is going to try to do to keep Egleston Rd closed I don’t trust the council to care enough about us to make that happen ‘ Personally I don’t care if Sammy Lane becomes one way or not but it shouldn’t be done an the expense of the people who fought long and hard to keep our road safe for our families….personally I don’t see why there needs to be a throughway here for Industrial Way they have an exit at both ends of that road and it only takes a few minutes to get out on either end’ As far as the planning board goes again you need to think about the people and how your decisions affect them not just what kind of money you will make be increasing the population of the North End and stuffing us from stem to stearn with business that pay minimum wage to people and cause more traffic congestion with no new lights to control traffic……I could go on and on but for now I hope some of the politicians read this and think about why they are elected to do the WILL OF THE PEOPLE ‘ I never liked politics but I am now thoroughly disgusted with the entire process…

Watching the drama of the University president who plays fast and loose with other peoples money, I have a couple thoughts. First, I read that he is on administrative leave WITH PAY. I would guess that he walked out of that meeting thinking, SWEEEEEET!! Second, I am saving the newspaper to start my wood stove this winter. When I look through the flames and see his picture, it will be like looking at him, where he belongs.

On the Friday, October 18, 2013 edition of the Westfield News, in the Crime Report, there was an entry: “…. an off duty offer (sic) reports spotting a person believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the responding officer reports that a detail officer detained the man pending his arrival…” Okay, so here’s my questions and I’d appreciate it if the Westfield News could find the answers to these questions and I’m not sure I’d be given accurate or truthful information: Was the off duty officer, also referred to as the detail officer, working a construction site or was it some other secondary job not normally within his duties? If it was a construction site and the officer was off duty detailing the site, could he legally detain the subject of the outstanding warrant or could the guy simply have legally just walked away? I’d appreciate this paper’s assistance in acquiring answers to these questions. Thank you.

I cannot believe the arrogance of the president of Westfield State University, Evan Dobelle. This guy goes around like he’s done nothing wrong and then he says to the media or anyone else who will listen, if you print anything libelous, I’ll sue you. The nerve of this guy! He’s got to go. That’s all I have to say.

Hi! So, Mr. Dobelle is still screwing the college. The people that have been donating to the college aren’t going to be donating anymore. Who does he think he is anyhow? He’s bleeding the college dry as it is now. This vacation of his now is just adding to it. Don’t forget – the college card, as if he would. Thank you.

Hey, good afternoon. Yeah, I was just wondering what happened to the fountain in Westfield? It’s not working. Did we not pay our water bill to the city or something like that?
