Hi PulseLine! Ex-President Dobelle is well past retirement age. He is 68 so there is no reason to stay on at WSU. The faculty clearly does not want him as their vote of no confidence pointed out! So why is he fighting so hard to say as president? The answer is that he punished the University of Hawaii by having them pay $1,200 in legal expenses because they wanted to fire him for misappropriation (stealing) of their funds. It is widely believed, that he is going to punish his Westfield State University the same way! The man has a huge ego and he will not go into retirement gracefully. So what if the trustees replace his ego with the fear of spending his old age in prison, like other crooks! He has said that he has done nothing criminal. REALLY!! Once a crook always a crook! It is sure that if his past taxes were closely audited he would fall afoul with The IRS. There is no reason for him to punish the Westfield State University and its students that he said he cares for, just because he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar AGAIN!

Well, here we are another election year and another year of disappearing candidate signs. I thought a lesson was learned the last time, but I guess you can't teach and Old Dog New Tricks.

On the Friday, October 18, 2013 edition of the Westfield News, in the Crime Report, there was an entry: “…. an off duty offer (sic) reports spotting a person believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the responding officer reports that a detail officer detained the man pending his arrival…” Okay, so here's my questions and I'd appreciate it if the Westfield News could find the answers to these questions and I'm not sure I'd be given accurate or truthful information: Was the off duty officer, also referred to as the detail officer, working a construction site or was it some other secondary job not normally within his duties? If it was a construction site and the officer was off duty detailing the site, could he legally detain the subject of the outstanding warrant or could the guy simply have legally just walked away? I'd appreciate this paper's assistance in acquiring answers to these questions. Thank you. State law provides that the authority conferred upon a sworn police office is not dependent on the officer’s duty status. One of the arguments often used to justify using police officers on construction projects is that those jobs give them an extra opportunity to spot persons of interest who might happen to pass by.

Hi! I agree with I believe what was said in the PulseLine, we need a government for the people. We have to stop this foolish spending for no reason at all. We need to change the present administration and don't let this street paving fool you. It was all planned right around election time. It was all part of his political plan to try to impress the voters. it's just a joke. Thank you.
