I have to say, I am so sick of hearing these teachers complain! I graduated with a degree in Social Work, when I graduated everyone said, “Your not going to make any money in social work”. I knew that! I knew I was not going to be making six figures going into social work, I chose social work because I wanted to help people and make a difference. I have a hard time believing that teachers graduated thinking they will be making millions! Some of these teachers are taking home over $2,000 bi-weekly! So lets see here the school year is a 180 days they get give or take 14 days/vacation, they take some sick days maybe even personal days so they work what?? 154 days a year give or take? Before the job I am at now I worked at a job that was open 365 days a year and I took home about $22,000. I survived off my $22,00 and these teachers are crying for working how many days!!! Come on! Also I dont know about everyone else but I work 9 to 5 with an hour lunch so lets see that’s 7 hours, please keep in mind I work more than 166 days a year, some people in this world work 12 hour days and teachers let’s see at the high school it comes out to 6 hours and 45 minutes(this is not including a break/s they get). Even the job I’m at now, once again let me say I went into this profession fully knowing I was not going to be making tons of money, Westfield teachers are making $30,000+ on average more than I am! I’m so tired of them standing on the side of the road its just ridiculous if you went into teaching thinking you were gonna be Ivana Trump then wake up! you clearly went into to teaching for all the wrong reasons! Also think about how many young college grads are out looking for teaching jobs! I say lets get rid of the dinosaurs that are still teaching and by the way sucking up all the money because they retire and then sub to get even more money and get some new teachers!!!!! Moral of the story Westfield Teachers GET OVER YOURSELVES AND GROW UP!!! Oh also I hope you all enjoyed your summer off!! Have a great school year!

I am so angry about the murder of the moose that was over on Union Street. Why they did not just put it to sleep and move it to a safer area instead of killing it. The moose was just following the scent of a female moose that had previously been through. The people who were stupid enough to go up to the moose deserved to be charged. The law enforcement has to know that we do on occasion have moose and other large animals come through our city and we should have had something in place to just put it to sleep instead of KILLING it.

So, let me get this straight – if you are a Moose loose in Westfield and someone calls to report the animal is in your area…chances are the Director of Animal Control – Ken Frazer – (the I only rescue Dogs man) – will be there to help Dispatch (aka Shoot and Kill) the poor animal. You want me to believe that Your Only Option was to KILL the Moose???? Seriously???? It just couldn’t just let it leave all by its self on its own 4 legs??? Was it really posing a dangerous risk??? And since there is NO Moose hunting season in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York states and unless the animal walks its 60-100 miles way back to Vermont (where there is a one)… it probably would have been OK if tranquilized and brought to Tolland State Forrest for example or left alone. It should not have been on anyone’s dinner menu in this state or those nearby!! So, I guess the woman who called animal control to “help” the moose must be really happy to see she inadvertently helped kill this beautiful creature. All in the name of preventing the little school children from danger when they got off the bus. Who by the way have probably witnessed or at the least heard about how the police and animal control “dispatched”/KILLED this moose. I guess those little children aren’t upset by this hideous act at all. In the future people, just be very aware that if you call Westfield Animal Control to report a moose, (which by the way does NOT eat meat – so your dogs, cats and kids aren’t in danger,) bear, fox, raccoons or skunks in your neighborhood – there is a Very Good chance that you will be helping Director Ken Frazer “dispatch”/KILL the animal. After all… as in this case, there was “just no way” to let the animal leave the area on its own!!! Making the Only and Best option to Shoot and Kill it.

Yeah, I’m reading the paper about the moose on Union and Carpenter. I cannot believe they had to dispatch it. That is the stupidest thing. That moose has every right to lie. It got down there safely without hurting anybody. It could got out of there safely without hurting anybody. What? That’s crazy! You should have tranquilized it and put it somewhere until the tranquilizer runs out for 30 days instead of killing it. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I don’t know, I’m sure there’s hundreds of people… I’m a hunter, too, and that’s just wrong. That moose ain’t even close to being legal size so if somebody shot it in a neighboring state they’d be breaking the law. So they would deserve to get sick. I’m baffled about everybody’s decision, Ken Frazer, the environmental police… there’s just no reason. That could have been put in the zoo for 30 days or something. Remember, we all live outdoors . We’re invading his turf. He ain’t invading ours. People better start coming up with better ways to handle things than that. That’s a beautiful animal dead for nothing. Somebody was in a hurry to get home for dinner? Is that why the cops were flying down Pochassic Street and Union Street at that time, for the moose, almost killing hundreds of people? Where’s the safety in that? I’m wondering if we can find out what happened to the carcass. That’s one big animal and I hope they had some kind of party and could feed a lot of people. Next time we have band night down on the Green, give away some moose burgers and steaks or something. Useless killing – let’s make something good out of it. I can’t believe they couldn’t tranquilize it and put it up at Forest Park or something. Absolutely no thought in there . Brain dead people, in my opinion. Thank you, PulseLine, for letting me vent and again I hope we can find out what happened to the carcass and it is terrific meat. That’s all. I’m very bothered. Bye.

I gotta say, the Westfield Teachers Association President Lori Hovey – Who says you have to get a raise every year? People don’t get raises every year? All I can picture is the full levy of 2.5 percent going up in the next valuation. Every time the school department gets a raise, our taxes go up. It’s the biggest, biggest, most virulent eater of our city budget.

When I saw the comment in yesterday’s Pulseline about the speeding police SUV, I thought I’d also comment on this vehicle. Last Tuesday (Sept. 24) at 8:45 p.m. I was a passenger in a car going north on Elm St. where the crazy dashed line indicates a merge. Suddenly I was aware of a vehicle on my right going at a high speed. When it got around us and cut in front, I was amazed to see that it was a police vehicle. No emergency lights or siren. So this seems to be a pattern.
