Pulseline

PulseLine, September 16, 2013

Lol. One thing I like about the PulseLine is, it’s not like the Internet where if you put your own opinion on it, people will comment with stupid negative things. It does kind of bother me on what some of you people wrote and not think about who else reads the paper. But, again, I’m just putting my opinion and the only way I can get a response is through the next paper or who ever reads this haha. Just one more thing, teachers are not selfish for doing this protest, if I was them I’d love to get a raise for teaching the kids who don’t want to learn and just walk around the halls. For the other kids who do, congrats, you’ll go far. Sorry, one last thing. Dress code. Get over it, kids need to learn a limit and just follow the rules, it’s not that hard to dress simple, it’s not like you’re going to a strip club. Seriously. Deuces.

Tommy DeNardo has received numerous free passes from the city of Westfield over the years and it’s now time for the License Commission to stick to its guns and uphold the permanent suspension of his license. Fights, drugs, untrained irresponsible workers and an absentee owner was and remains a recipe for tragedy. I applauded when the city took swift action against this establishment following the ridiculous motorcycle incident inside the bar, and subsequent lies to law enforcement from the owner himself. Funny how Denardo never took much interest in improving security and safety of his patrons until his license was finally revoked. The other thriving downtown establishments as well as the city of Westfield have benefited from the closure of this reckless establishment. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks!!

Whoa, the teachers are not going to work any extra time; anyone that has ever placed themselves in serious jeopardy by standing in the school teacher lot driveway after the bell rings understands an empty threat when they hear one. And teachers have certainly continued to receive step increases over the past three years, perhaps the Evening News can quantify the percentage of teachers plus the cost per year and publish the actual facts. As for general increases, they should be earned, they are not just a right. Why would we ever increase the salaries of folks performing below the states average standards? Westfield schools are still a three on a scale of one to four with four being the worst and one the best. These folks are coming off a 2 1/2 month vacation and they expect some kind of reward? Our new superintendent seems to be a thoughtful person, perhaps she can talk some common sense into these folks.

I am 98 years old and I misplaced my black cane while shopping at the Stop and Shop on Thursday, September 12th around 10 a.m. If found, please return to the service desk. Thank you.

Hi! This is to the woman who inadvertently hit a black cat Monday night on Western Avenue. I just wanted to say thank you very much for stopping and not leaving my friend there I really appreciate it.

I’m sure Mrs. Diltz’s daughter would have gotten into Cornell had the Westfield Teachers Association just got another two percent raise. What a weak argument! I’m sure that I would have gotten into Yale had I not applied to Holyoke Community College in the eighties. No doubt about it. C’mon!
