I keep waiting for the city to pause and take some responsibility for this mess of a school situation, but it’s like they’re climbing further and further out on the limb and sawing the branch behind them. Mayor Knapik took the cake in the latest article, and I’m paraphrasing, when he said “We didn’t know that was protected Article 97 land until we started digging.” Mr. Mayor, I’m sorry, but you are either woefully misinformed by your staff or out-and-out lying. I attended a neighborhood meeting back in March of this year and found out about this law and other issues like it then. The trees were cut down and the fields dug up only a few weeks ago. How dare you try to play us for fools?

This is to the mayor of Westfield: Just because you say a school was built on protected park land in the 1990’s doesn’t mean you have the legal right to do it now. Listen to the people who voted you into office… We don’t want a school!

Good morning. I’m calling about one of the newest additions in downtown Westfield, on the north side by Butcher Block, I believe it’s called Czar Energy Solutions. My God! What an awesome job this young man, or family, has done with the interior, exterior and signage of that building. It’s an asset for downtown Westfield. They have stoves or whatever you need from the heating aspect. What an awesome, awesome, job they did on that particular building which was the hardware store of the past. Congratulations. I hope people really realize what you’ve done to the north side to strengthen that general area. Thank you.

My children are grown up and won’t be affected one way or another by where they build a new elementary school so I haven’t paid much interest and for good reason. The politicians have made their mind up, this is where the school will go and they will, as usual, have their way no matter what the voters have to say. Of course the next Election Day just may rain on their parade.

The City Council meeting the other night was a disgusting show of dictatorship on the part of certain councilors. Because the replacement councilor for Ward 2 doesn’t suit them, they want to disregard the law. Why have a legal department if these bozos do what they want? They had five votes against the candidate, the rest four. At the next meeting when they vote he has to receive seven votes. Watch these bozos strong-arm enough councilors into changing their vote. They just want a “yes” man in there. If this is done, I hope the candidate does sue you for stomping on his rights.
