WESTFIELD – The Purple Heart Trail and Fountain Project has come to an end. Over thirty eight signs have been placed on Route 10 and 202 from Holyoke to the Southwick line.
Those who donated will be honored with a one of a kind decal and plaque that will be installed at Westfield City Hall, American Legion Whip City Memorial Post 454, American Legion Post 124, Marine Corps League and the Westfield Veteran’s Office.
Everyone who donated honored the many men and women who earned the Purple Heart award serving their county. Assembly of Purple Heart Veterans will take place at a dedication ceremony of the water fountain that will be installed this summer in their honor at Parker Memorial Park.
We, the committee, thank those who honored these Veterans. Additional donations that were made for the fountain include Westfield Bank, Berkshire Bank, Forish Construction Company, Inc., David & Nancy Brill, Westfield Electroplating, Walmart, Catherine Aborjaily, in memory of Alfred Aborjaily, William& Nancy Garen, Marilyn J. Potter, Karen King, Robert J. & Elinore Siska, and Willie Santowski. Any one who is a Purple Heart recipient in the community, please let us know who you are. We will inform you of when the event will take place. Please call Don Wielgus, at (413) 568-7767, or email me at [email protected]. Freedom in not free.
