WESTFIELD: Ralph C. Miller, 85, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford, CT to the late Clifton R. and Helen (Stokers) Miller. Ralph served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1962 and attained the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a machine operator for Carton Industry in CT, at Champion International in Chicopee for 23 years and he retired from Smurfit Stone in Westfield in 2001.
Ralph loved being outdoors. If you couldn’t find him tending to his gardening or puttering around the house, he could be found in some random neighbor’s yard lending a helping hand or repairing their broken devices. He became to be known as the neighborhood “Mr. Fix-It!”
Sadly, Ralph was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary A. (Murray) Miller, granddaughter Selina L. Miller-Longtin, sister Arline Zampieri, and brothers Clifton R. Miller, Jr., Abraham L. Miller, and Raymond A. Miller. He is survived by his loving children, Rosanne Miller-Longtin and Cheryl Miller, both of Westfield, and John C. Miller of Oregon, his sisters, Marietta Caladim of NY, Marianne Moore of Florida, Helene Fleury of NY, and Evelyn Crogan of WI and seven grandchildren: Teala St. George, Mara Miller-Felix of Westfield, and Dustin Miller, Michael Miller, Skylar Miller, Derek Miller and Shyleah Miller of Oregon, and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Trinity Health of New England Hospice, especially Vivian, Arlene and Karen, for their kindness and compassion in caring for Ralph, along with neighbor, Tim Bates, for his generosity.
A private burial with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Arrangements are under the direction of the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Health of New England Hospice, Attn: Laurie Mellor, 200 Hillside Circle, West Springfield, MA 01089 or to any Veteran’s organization of one’s choice.
