Rams kick Pacers, 4-1

CHICOPEE – The Southwick High School girls’ soccer team could have packed it in and left Szot Park the loveable loser. Instead, they maintained their rivaled edge.  Southwick scored four unanswered second-half goals to pull past Chicopee 4-1 yesterday. The Pacers took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Izzy Burns (2 goals), Jess Teodore (goal), and Kayla Drennan (goal) each found the back of the net for the Rams (4-1). Ali Sheehan had two assists and Cassie Bay had one.
Southwick goalie Megan Zabik finished with 11 saves.

Westfield 4, Amherst 1
Lindsay Stefano scored on a penalty in the first half for Westfield, and Bombers’ Shelby Chambers, Caroline Senecal, and Jules Sharon each chipped in second-half goals for the visitors.
Senecal and Chambers assisted on each other’s scores, and Stefano connected with Sharon for the team’s fourth goal.
Amelia Tooker (2 saves) and Celina Nunez (4 saves) combined for the win in net.

JV GIRLS’ SOCCER
Southwick 2, Chicopee 1
Lexi Glynn and Megan Coon each scored, unassisted, for Southwick. Arielle Bryant had seven saves.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Gateway 0, Hampshire 0
Gateway outshot Hoyoke Catholic 10-9 in a game dominated by defense. Mike Arel had six saves for the Gators.
