WESTFIELD – Raymond (Ray) Megaro, 92, died Monday, November 19, 2012 in Noble Hospital. Born and raised in Westfield, he was a lifelong resident of Westfield.
Ray was a retired 43 year department manager for the former Stanhome Products in Easthampton. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of WWII. Ray was also co-owner, with his wife of 70 years Mary A. (Mayeros), of the former Megaro Sports Center in Westfield for 32 years. Ray was a communicant of St. Peter and St. Casimir Church. He was a former member of American Legion Post 454, the Italian Fraternal Club, and the former Eagles Club, all in Westfield.
Besides his wife Mary, Ray leaves a granddaughter, Melissa J. Smith and her husband Paul of Richmond, VA., a great granddaughter, Harriet “Hattie” Smith, and his friend and caregiver, Kimberly A. Douglas of Clinton, MA., along with several relatives. He will be sadly missed by all. Ray was predeceased by his son Ken in 2008 and by his grandson Scott in 2010.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter and St. Casimir Church, State St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Westfield. Visiting hours are omitted. The Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, Westfield, is entrusted with his arrangements.
