The 20th Annual Art Exhibition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April  27-28, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on both days. This year’s art exhibit features 40 artists coming from Western Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut, and other areas to feature their sculptures, pottery, photography, oils, water colors, and woodcarvings.

According to Susan Kochanski, Chairman of the Cultural Council, many of the artists will be at the reception on Friday. The free and open to the public reception gives community members the opportunity to get to know the artists before their busy weekend.

“It’s an important kickoff to the two-day show that allows people to meet the artists as sometimes artists aren’t always available to be available for the duration of the show on Saturday and Sunday,” said Kochanski.

At the reception, the poster art for the art exhibition will be put on display. This year, a painting called, “Berkshire Stream” created by Gretchen Shepard will be the poster art. The painting features one of the tributaries of the Westfield River. A long-time resident of Southwick, Shepard has taken part in the reception and the art show in the past and always enjoys it.

“It’s a very nice event, it’s an honor to be involved,” said Shepard. “It’s definitely a promotional event for the artists and an opportunity for the community.”
