WESTERN MASS – The American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter welcomes Rachael Capuano as the new Communications intern for the spring 2013 semester. Rachael joined the Red Cross team hoping to enhance her skills and gain experience in the Communications field. Her primary responsibility will be assisting with communications and marketing at the Pioneer Valley Chapter, while learning about chapter support and development. Rachael will be combining her talents and experience to complete communications projects, implement marketing campaigns and assist with special events throughout the semester.
A native of Vancouver, Washington, Rachael currently attends Western New England University. Upon graduation this May, she will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish. She has earned repeated recognition on the President’s List through her hard work and determination, and she hopes to continue this academic success in Graduate School. Also volunteering with the international exchange program, Youth for Understanding America, she has a strong passion for humanitarian assistance.
Prior to interning at the Red Cross, Rachael worked on continuous projects at Western New England University. She has experience in implementing new strategies for academic success for undergraduates, and works closely with the Dean of First Year Students to organize campaigns and events for prospective students.
Although a new face to the Red Cross, her enthusiasm will bring creativity and fresh input to the organization. During this semester, Rachael will work with staff and volunteers to develop campaigns to promote the Red Cross mission. She expresses how inspired she is as the new intern at the Red Cross. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with such a generous organization” says Rachael. “I am eager to gain new skills and experience but also make a positive contribution to the entire community.”
Western New England University students have continued to create a positive image for the school at the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter. Many students have had the rewarding opportunity to contribute to the organization, showing solid skills built from Western New England. “We are so excited to have Rachael on board with us this semester. In just a few days she’s proven to be creative, resourceful and capable,” said Dawn Leaks, Red Cross Regional Director of Communications. “These are the qualities we’ve come to expect from Western New England students and Rachael is no exception.”
