Reminder about Granville Police meeting

GRANVILLE – On Tuesday, the Granville Police Department will be holding a public informational meeting at 6 p.m. at the Granville Town Hall. The police held their first ever public meeting last December.

The meetings were created to give the residents of Granville the opportunity to learn more about the 16 part-time officers that patrol their streets on a daily basis. It also gives people the chance to ask questions and give their opinions, feedback, and concerns of things occurring in their community.

When the Westfield News spoke to Chief Scott Flebotte in February, he felt that the addition of this new community outreach tool, would be a great way of being transparent with the rest of the town.

“We’re just trying to say ‘hey what’s important to you, what do you want in a police department,’” said Flebotte. “I just wanted to create a venue where people could voice their opinion without criticism.”

The December meeting discussed new programs and tactics that the department has been implementing and also criminal complaints and other issues in Granville.

Flebotte also added that he always works ways to become more accessible to the community. Typically, every Monday evening Flebotte will have office hours at the police department from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

If anyone has questions or comments about the upcoming public meeting, contact the Granville Police Department at 413-357-8572.
