Rep. Velis Weekly Update

Greetings Westfield! I hope everyone’s weekend is off to a great start! Here is a quick update from the past week.

On Thursday I had the honor of speaking at dedication ceremony for The Wall That Heals at the Big E in West Springfield. For those who do not know, The Wall That Heals is a half-size, traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. The purpose of The Wall That Heals is to allow those who are unable to travel to D.C. a chance to visit the wall and experience the impact of the memorial.

The wall also serves as an educational opportunity for younger generations to learn about Vietnam War and those who lost their lives. Most importantly, The Wall That Heals honors the men and women who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. I encourage everyone to take a trip over to West Springfield to see the wall. It will be open 24 hours at the Big E through Sunday, August 21st.

This week the 14 year old Babe Ruth World Series wrapped up it’s time here in the City of Westfield. I spent quite a bit of time down at Bullens Field volunteering and catching a couple of games. It was really wonderful having the world series in town. Not only was it great to see the kids play, but the hard work of everyone involved was evident. It is always great to see so many people coming together for a wonderful event like this one. So congratulations to the players and everyone involved!

This weekend I am looking forward to heading over to the 89th Westfield Fair. It is great weekend to get out and enjoy the fair. As always, there is a lot going on at the fair. They have everything from agricultural demonstrations, to local music, to rides and more. It’s sure to be a good time, I hope to see you all there!

That’s all for this week Westfield! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns at [email protected] or my district office phone 413-472-392
