SOUTHWICK – Having started earlier this year, the Southwick American Legion Post 338  hosts a spaghetti dinner once a month as a fundraiser for either veterans or community outreach programs.

For the fundraiser on May 9, all the proceeds will be going to the Southwick Police Association. Tickets will cost $10 per person for the meal.

Aside from the May monthly dinner supporting the Southwick Police Association, Post 338 is also using the event as an opportunity to honor and congratulate Chief David Ricardi for his years of service to the town. Ricardi, having served as the Chief of Police in town since 2013, is set to retire from the department in June.

Post 338 wants to also recognize Chief Ricardi for his assistance to their organization during his tenure.

“We want to thank David for all his efforts and support in what we do,” said Post 338 Senior Vice-Commander Russ Pike.

When informed about the plan for his recognition, Ricardi commented that it was unexpected.

“For somebody to recognize me for the job I did, I’m rather humbled by that,” said Ricardi. “I’m very appreciate of thinking about me.”

According to Pike, the first two Legion fundraising spaghetti dinnershad approximately 50 people in attendance. For more information on the May 9 dinner, contact Post 338 at 413-569-9055.
