Richard Cardoza

RUSSELL – Richard  Cardoza of Russell, MA passed away on April 6th. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on February 11, 1948 and raised in Barrington, RI. He was an altar boy at Holy Angels church where he “religiously” counted the collection money.

He attended Northeastern University, in Boston MA, majoring in Finance and Insurance, until he joined the construction industry, in which he practiced until retirement. He was Project Manager and Superintendent for DOS Concrete Services, Franki Foundation Company, The Millgard Corporation and Mergentime Corporation. He was very successful in his field and enjoyed the challenges presented to him with each new project.

Richard enjoyed playing basketball and baseball throughout his childhood in Barrington, RI. He developed a lifelong passion for his New England sports teams especially the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed spending his free time working on many home improvement projects. He was an excellent carpenter and loved to work with his favorite “assistant” Barbara to create a warm and beautiful home for family and friends to gather. He enjoyed nothing more than sitting outside with his family and enjoying a warm summer night. Richard will be missed beyond words and will always be remembered for his kind heart and his extraordinary love for his family.

Richard is survived by his wife and love of his life of 34 years, Barbara, his daughter Jamie and Son in law Brendan; Son Martin and Daughter in law Abbey; and Daughter Kim and predeceased by Son in law Marc. Richard had eight Grandchildren Ivy, Autumn, EJ, Mac, Dalton, Olivia, Evan and Colin who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his big brother Edmund and his wife, Lisa and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Buddy. He loved them all with great passion.  Calling hours for Richard are on Wednesday April 10th at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. A service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial immediately following in Pine Hill Cemetery.
