Richard F. Dintzner

Cocoa, FL – Richard F. Dintzner (Dick), 79, (193-2017) flagof Cocoa, FL passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 following complications from the recovery of heart surgery. He was born in Westfield, MA on February 1, 1938 and adopted by his parents Anthony & Irene Dintzner the same year. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and attended Benjamin Franklin University in Washington D.C. where he studied business and accounting. He married Joyce M. Martin on June 24, 1961. Following their honeymoon, he was drafted into the United States Army where they lived in Germany. He was dedicated to his work as an insurance salesman and manager for 30 years with Metropolitan Life. Dick also worked at Sears and Liberty Medical while living in Florida.

Dick was a devoted, nurturing, proud father to his five children, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was an organized man, with a big heart who loved his family and who was passionate about history and reading and loved to travel. He was an active and dedicated member of the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament church, serving on the financial committee, he was a Eucharistic Minister and also served funeral masses. Dick also took great pride in being a part of the honor guard for the Knights of Columbus. The highlight was the honor of being the Grand Knight for a year. Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce, his children, Caroline, Diane, Mark and his wife Stephanie, Matthew and his husband Eric, and Michael. Grandchildren Pamela and her husband Chris, Ricky, Joey, Julia, Stephen, Shaelee, and Jay and great granddaughter Amilya.

The funeral is scheduled for Friday February 24, 2017 at 9 AM from Firtion-Adams Funeral Home 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, FL for their efforts in keeping him comfortable in his last days.
