Robert B. Bryant

flagWESTFIELD – Robert Brooks Bryant, 89, (1926-2016) our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016.  Robert was born June 11, 1926, in Pawtucket, RI, son to the late Carleton and Margaret (Smith) Bryant.  In 2010 he and his wife moved to a lovely community in Westfield from Agawam and called it their home.  Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and made it to the rank of Lieutenant after serving over 43 Robert Bryant youngyears in the US Navy Reserve. Robert graduated from Brown University, he also attended the University of Michigan, Notre Dame University and Harvard.

Bob owned Bryant School Supply in West Springfield, along with stores in West Hartford and Hamden, Ct.  He loved sailing, history and poetry and could recite many poems.  He and his wife Audrey traveled to many countries all over the world.  He would tell his wife that he would spin the globe and she could place her finger on a spot and that is where they would go.

Bob was known by his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Bobby”, “Grandpa Dude” and some of his friends called him “Father Bob”, all of which he adored.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Audrey (Ludwig) Bryant of Westfield.  He was the caring father to 5 sons, many grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Jean Fuller.  There will be a Chapel Service, Thursday June 9, 2016 at 1PM at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam, MA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Holyoke Soldier’s Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.  Westfield Funeral Home, 4 Princeton Street, Westfield has been entrusted with these arrangements.
