WESTFIELD: Robert E. Fyhr, 74, of Westfield, MA passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Springfield, MA on November 15, 1946, son of the late Clarence Fyhr and Annette (Carrignan) LaBay. He graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield, MA in 1965. Bob was a longtime resident of Westfield and was a 30-year veteran of the Springfield Fire Department, retiring in 1999. He was also an active member of Local 648. Since retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, frequently splitting his time between home and Hollytree Campground in Ashaway, RI. Bob enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting and fishing. He was extremely passionate about fishing and loved sharing that with his family and friends. He spent a lot of time out on the ocean with his boat, it was one of his favorite things to do. Bob was a kind, loving, caring and generous man who had an incredible work ethic. He was a jack of all trades and knew something about everything. He was also a very outgoing man and made fast friends everywhere he went. He had a knack for making a positive impact on those that he crossed paths with, oftentimes helping people any way he could. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and brother and put everyone ahead of himself. He was most proud of his family and was very involved with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob leaves his wife and best friend of 55 years, Nancy G. (Cebula) Fyhr, brother, Norman C. Fyhr of Springfield, MA. Two daughters, Dawn Walz and her life partner, Robert Girard, Sherry Yvon and her husband Darren Yvon. Four grandsons, Darren Walz, Justin Walz, his wife Isabella Walz, Jack and Jake Yvon, great-grandsons, Brody and Griffin Walz, great-granddaughter Valkyrie Mae Walz, all are natives of Westfield, MA. Bob also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and several friends. Bobby was predeceased by his brother, Arthur LaBay (2010).
