Robert J. Czarnecki

WESTFIELD – It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Robert Czarnecki (1941-2023). He passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer.
Robert was born in Westfield, the son of Joseph and Anna (Janisieski) Czarnecki.

Robert is survived by his wife Judith (Zabielski) Czarnecki of 58 years. He leaves behind his children, whom he loved dearly, Deborah Dostal (Michael) of Westfield, Robert Czarnecki (Tammy) of Westfield, Christine Pires (Antonio) of Ludlow and Andrea Czarnecki (Kevin) of Westfield. Robert will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Robert Czarnecki, Victoria Czarnecki, Joseph Pires, Emily Czarnecki and Malina Ponti. Robert is also survived by his sister Ann Ferreira of South Carolina.

He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph Czarnecki, Paul Czarnecki and his sister Joanne Nemec all from Westfield MA. He also leaves behind his cherished extended large family and many close friends.

Robert was referred to by some friends and family as “Harp.” He enjoyed many years of attending auto racing at Riverside Park Speedway in Agawam supporting his brothers Joe and Paul Czarnecki who owned the #20 race car. He spent his free time golfing with his friends at Tekoa Country Club. He loved listening to Polish music on Sunday mornings. During his lifetime, Robert enjoyed vacationing with his family at Cape Cod and Maine. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and NASCAR.

At age 19, Robert joined the Army National Guard and was proud to serve his country. He was a member of the American Legion in Westfield MA. Robert was employed at Osley & Whitney for over 40 years and then at Excel Dryer for the remainder of his career.

The calling hours are Monday, October 16th from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Road, Westfield, MA.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the care given to Robert by the nurses, doctors and visiting nurses of Baystate Medical Center.
