WESTFIELD – Ruth (Ripley) Saunders 105 passed away Tuesday, September 8, 201
5, at Genesis Health Care – Westfield Center. Ruth was born in West Granville on the family farm. She was the daughter of the late H. Leon and Ethel (Hall) Ripley. She grew up in West Granville, attended local schools and was a graduate of Westfield High School. After high school she worked at the Old Colony Envelope Company, where she met and married John H. Saunders in 1941, and gave birth to their daughter in 1949. Ruth was active in the Westfield Women’s club and taught Sunday school at the First Congregational Church.Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband John H. Saunders of 41 years on March 31, 1982, her brother Kenneth L. Ripley and her sisters Helen R. Knapp, and Edna H. Ripley also her niece Jane M. Knapp. She leaves her daughter Karen Anne Saunders of Superior, Colorado. Her grand-daughter, Kimberly Ortiz of Coventry, CT, grand-son Daniel J. Saunders of Andover, CT. Two great-great grand-daughters, Jacinda and Anya, two great great-grandsons, Joshua and Jonah. She also leaves her nephew Leon K. Ripley and his wife Joyce and great- nephews David, John and Matthew Ripley all of Granville.Funeral Home Services will be held for Ruth on Monday at 11 AM at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield MA. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10-11AM. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the First Congregational Church, 18 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
