Salvatore Anania

Salvatore Anania passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born in Staletti, Italy on May 23, 1921. He and his wife, Carmela, immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s for a better life for their family. Carmela passed away in 2014. They had been married for 66 years. Sal loved working in his vegetable garden and enjoyed sharing the abundant harvest with friends and family year after year. He loved tending to his fig trees as well as his lawn, making his own sauce and wine, and tinkering around his house. He was passionate about cooking, always preparing simple but delicious Italian dishes. A strong willed, intelligent man, Sal was generous and loved his family deeply. He worked as a tool and die maker and retired from Digital. He was also a celebrant at St. Mary’s Church.   He leaves his four children, Connie LaBrecque and her husband David, Angie Holl and her husband Bob, Tony Anania and his wife Irina, and Frank Anania. He also leaves his two grandchildren, Lisa Huval and her husband Darren and Jennifer LaBrecque and her husband Colin, as well as two great grandchildren, Zoe and Elizabeth. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 11 from 4 to 6 PM at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 at St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett St., Westfield. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
