Challenging start

Well, if the first week of our brand new contest, “Putz’s Ultimate Sports Challenge,” is any indication, the race is to the finish line is going to be a challenging prospect for sure.
Sunday’s crash-filled Daytona 500 wrecked the hopes of most of the sports’ biggest names. It also crushed the dreams of every one of our contestants.
Not one contestant managed to pick a driver who finished in the top three. That would have required a driver selection of Kurt Busch (3 points), Ryan Blaney (2 points), or A.J. Allmendinger (1 point) on Sunday.
Without a winning entry, a random drawing was held. Deb Michaud, of Westfield was selected to receive our contest’s first prize, a gift certificate to The Press Room.
First, the bad news – no one received a single point in our overall leaderboard for the grand prize. Now, the good news – no one received a single point, which will allow contestants the chance to begin anew when our next leg of the contest, March Madness Final Four, arrives in the coming weeks.
To be crowned the contest’s overall leader at the season’s end and take home the grand prize, the top contestant must have the most points from all of the Challenge sporting events throughout the year.
Let the race begin again! – Chris Putz
