Southwick’s Senior Sizzler set for Monday

SOUTHWICK – The Town Beach will be the hot spot of the summer Monday when the annual Senior Sizzler hits the sand.
Hosted by the Southwick Parks and Recreation Commission, the event takes place from 10 a.m. – 2p.m. at the beach located on Beach Road.
Commission Chairman Kelly Magni will man the grill with hot dogs and hamburgers for all. Chips, watermelon and beverages will round out the lunch. Bingo – with gold coin prizes donated by Big Y – and live entertainment by Jack and His Guitar, will be part of the fun.
The event is free and open to all Southwick senior citizens.
“We do a lot of parties for kids, and we want to be here for the whole community,” Magni said of the reason for the event. “We want to accommodate all age groups.”
Commissioner Susan Grabowski said a future party will be geared towards families.
Commissioners said they hope residents take advantage of the Senior Sizzler and enjoy a day at the beach.
“Come down, enjoy the food and the water,” said Magni.
The Town Beach is open daily, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m
The cost is $2 for residents and $3 for out-of-town visitors. Children seven thru 13 years-old are charged $1 while senior citizens 62-years-old and older, children younger than six and military personnel on active duty enjoy free admission.
Life guards are on duty at all times.
Minors need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The Senior Sizzler is a free event.
