SOUTHWICK – The Board of Selectmen and Southwick Police Sgt. Robert Landis are working together to resolve issues of noise at the Sky Box sports bar.
Landis met with the Board this week and said there have been numerous complaints of noise from a neighbor of the establishment at 25 Point Grove Road.
“I just wanted to let you know where we’re at because we’re still getting complaints from the same person,” Landis said.
The problem seems to stem from noise coming from inside the bar to the deck when customers come in and out.
“It’s a quality of life issue,” Landis said.
Landis is working with the Sky Box owner to resolve the problem.
“I suggested a two-way system,” he said. “When you go through the door they should have a four-foot breezeway, then another door outside.”
Landis said the noise escapes the bar when customers go in and out to smoke or sit outdoors. Another issue, he said, is people talking on the deck.
“The voices carry,” said Landis.
The Board has been working with Southwick Police on noise regulations for bars and restaurants with outdoor spaces for the past year.
